Substance Use Disorder

The Substance Use Disorder Care Unit Analysis was the first care unit analysis we conducted.  Working with Centerstone of Indiana, we considered the technology requirements for substance use disorder following the Recovery Oriented System of Care EBP model.  This was followed by additional Care Units Analyses for eHealth Coach (a workflow model for behavioral health providers focused on the management of chronic health conditions), Employment Services (focused on people recently released from incarceration and in recovery programs) and Offender Re-entry.  The SUD Care Unit Analysis was became the basis for v-Recover, their configuration of White Pine’s SPINN platform, and showed measurable success in reducing relapse rates, improving operating efficiency and lowering the rate of recidivism.

While this SUD Care Unit Analysis has the substance and value we continue to achieve, we had not yet formalized the process or developed a template for the presentation.  For example, we didn’t include an executive summary of our methods and findings, as we no do.

Thus, we are in the process of re-writing the SUD Care Unit Analysis to reflect our current presentation guidance.  We will post the new executive summary upon completion.

An Analysis of the impact SUPPORT Act of 2018 on health information technology

In October, 2018, President Trump signed the SUPPORT Act, a bi-partisan bill comprising 120 separate provisions intended to address the opioid crisis. The Act includes several provisions that encourage technology-enabled patient engagement and care collaboration, including SDOH. This paper analyzes the SUPPORT Act to better understand the impact of the SUPPORT Act on HIT to advance the vision of fully integrated care.

SUD Care Unit Analysis

The Substance Use Disorder Care Unit Analysis was completed in December, 2011. This was our first Care Unit Analysis. While the content of the paper served well to guide the configuration of a successful SUD Care Unit application, the template was rough. The executive summary needs work. We’ll re-write it and post it in the near future.
