Doug Dormer is founder and CEO of White Pine Systems. A graduate of the University of Michigan, Doug began his career as a certified public accountant with Coopers & Lybrand (now PricewaterhouseCoopers-PwC), where he co-authored a book on healthcare systems and workflow, designed to help hospitals manage costs more effectively.  After leaving C&L, Doug served as a financial consultant and bankruptcy trustee.  A long time entrepreneur, Doug has served as general partner in three successful real estate limited partnerships. From 1991 to 2002 Doug served in leadership positions with Bottomline Technologies, a global provider of secure financial systems.  For the past 10 years, Doug has served as a guest lecturer and mentor in the Department of BioHealth Informatics at Indiana University.  The son of two blind parents, Doug has been involved in healthcare and patient empowerment all his life. 

A frequent speaker and author on patient engagement and community care collaboration, Doug has served on the HL7 Personal Health Record Work Group and the Health Information Management Services Society’s (HIMSS) Personal Health Information Task Force.  Doug was honored to receive the Spirit of HIMSS award in December, 2012.

Chad Cook is White Pine Systems’ advising system architect.  Chad served as the company’s Chief Technology Officer from 2012 till 2016. 

Chad is an experienced technology executive with a diverse background and depth in scalable, high-performance technologies and security, across industries. He has a long and successful track record of building high-quality engineering teams, setting strategy, and creating vision, all while executing and delivering high-quality technology products. On the advisory boards of several startup and private companies, Chad brings a wealth of experience and expertise to WPS. Chad is an internationally published author, speaker, and innovator. A graduate of Holy Cross College, he has contributed to books, papers and patents, and has spoken at SEC, NATO and United Nations events.

Pete Wendel leads White Pine System’s technology requirements and user experience design and evaluation. 

A graduate of Carnegie Melon University, Pete has led health-related product development and user experience teams at major companies including one of the largest retail pharmacy chains.

Pete leads product and service innovation following evidence-based design principles that delivers a return on investment via a return on behavior. 

Pete empowers individuals and teams across diverse organizations to translate behavioral needs of target customers and patients into connected products, designs, and services. The net result is increased positive outcomes, increased customer/patient engagement, and improved quality of life for individuals (patients, customers), while improving effectiveness and efficiency for providers, payers, and service partners. 

 

Dr. Josette Jones, guides White Pine’s research activities.  Working with Doug as mentor, Dr. Jones has guided over 20 different projects focused on patient engagement and care collaboration, leading to innovative design and research.  She is Director, Health Informatics, Department of BioHealth Informatics at Indiana University School of Informatics and Computing – Indianapolis.  Josette’s area of expertise is Nursing Informatics, more specifically tasks analysis and conceptual design of information systems for health care providers and consumers as well. Her long range goals and intentions are to develop a program of research on “tell and ask” functional interfaces”.  Josette has served both as principal investigator and as an evaluator on many national and international studies.

Randy Johnson leads White Pine’s quality assurance program.  Randy served as VP of Product Services from 2009 to 2011, and has remained a trusted adviser.  We are proud to bring Randy back to lead our quality assurance programs.

Randy Johnson has over 22 years of Quality Assurance experience. He has injected Quality in Software, Hardware, and companies processes and procedures. Randy has experience working in Security, Health Records, Banking, B2B, Supply Chain Finance just to name a few. He has worked with and built QA Practices in the US, India, Prague, Porta Rico, Slovakia and Taiwan. Randy believes that quality is the most important part of a company especially when dealing with peoples health and their money.

Randy is involved in every step of the product life cycle, from the requirements definition to go-live.  Randy works closely with the customer support team, identifying issues, participating in the design and development of enhancements.
